With nearly 40 years of experience representing individual and corporate debtors and the occasional creditor in all phases of a bankruptcy case, Brett is dedicated to solving his clients’ most challenging problems.
Brett Weiss has been involved in several consumer and business bankruptcy cases of first impression, and he has lectured thousands of lawyers on a variety of bankruptcy topics, including Chapter 11 reorganizations and Chapter 7 liquidations.
He has spoken before the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the National Association of Chapter Thirteen Trustees, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the Maryland Bankruptcy Bar Association, and the Maryland State Bar Association, among others.
Brett has twice testified before Congress on bankruptcy and credit issues and before the Bankruptcy Rules Committee and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
He recently served on the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Individual Chapter 11 Task Force.
Brett Weiss is a prolific writer, having authored scores of articles and blogs on complex bankruptcy issues.
He has received international media attention in connection with his work, including an interview by Barbara Walters on The View. He has appeared on The Today Show, Good Morning America, ABC News with Peter Jennings, National Public Radio, The Montel Williams Show, AARP-TV, the BBC World Service, and numerous local radio and television programs.

Brett Weiss and his wife, Chrissy, are Walt Disney World fanatics, having cruised with Disney nearly two dozen times.
Brett is also a professionally trained singer, performing with the National Symphony at the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall and The London Philharmonic at the Royal Festival Hall.
His chorus even performed Handel’s Messiah at the National Cathedral with a 100-piece orchestra playing 18th-century instruments from the Smithsonian Institution!
