How Much Does It Cost to File a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy?

Typically, Blue Bee Bankruptcy Law charges a flat attorney fee of $2,500 to represent a consumer debtor in a “no-asset” Chapter 7 bankruptcy from start to finish.

However, our fee for a business-related Chapter 7 bankruptcy, whether a non-consumer individual or corporate, is higher and depends on the circumstances of the case.

Although very rare, we do charge an additional hourly fee during your bankruptcy case if a dispute arises with your Chapter 7 Trustee, the United States Trustee, or one of your creditors.

Fees and costs are subject to change without notice. Please contact us for details at (801)-285-0980.

Can I Pay My Chapter 7 Attorney Fee in Installments?

Blue Bee Bankruptcy allows its clients to file bankruptcy even before paying its attorney’s fee. This program, known as our Fast File option, allows you to pay our fee in installments over 10 months at no interest after we file your case. Before filing your case, you pay only a $407 cost deposit ($452 for joint), which includes the filing fee, credit report, and credit counseling.

After filing, you will sign an agreement to pay $250 each month for 10 consecutive months through automatic deductions from your designated bank account. You can make these payments according to your normal employment pay cycle (e.g., weekly, biweekly, or twice monthly).

Typically, we require a personal guarantor to agree to pay your balance in case you default.

Do I Have to Qualify for the Installment Option?

Yes, you do, but it’s easy. You must have a bank account and authorize us to withdraw the monthly installment from that account.

Additionally, a personal guarantor with good credit must agree to pay your balance if you do not.

Do I Have to Select the Installment Option?

No, you can pay our entire attorney fee before filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Many clients choose to pay our fee in installments before we file their case.

The total, including the cost deposit, is $2,907.

Do You Offer an Installment Option for Chapter 13 Bankruptcy?

Yes, we do. The Bankruptcy Code allows a debtor to pay attorney fees after the Chapter 13 bankruptcy is filed.

So, we have flexible options for paying Chapter 13 attorney fees.

What Are the Other Costs Paid Before Filing a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy?

You must provide your last three (3) years of tax returns to the Chapter 7 Trustee overseeing your case. If you do not have your tax returns handy, we can provide you with instructions to order them directly from the IRS. We’ve learned the returns are received much faster when ordered by the taxpayer.

In summary, you can get your Chapter 7 bankruptcy filed for as little as $407 in costs, with no up-front attorney fees!
